NEW WORKS DRAMATURGY

Developmental Dramaturgy & Staged Readings of New Plays

As a dramaturg, I have read hundreds of developing scripts and worked with many playwrights, from professional theatre-makers to those writing their first plays.

In all those spaces, I bring a spirit of listening and collaboration. My goal as a developmental dramaturg is to help you refine your play, not to write or edit it. My new works dramaturgy is questions and conversation-based.

SPECIALTIES: New Works (excluding musicals and devised work), Unconventional Storytelling, MENASA  and Immigrant Experiences, Detailed Research, Digital Packets and Audience Guides, Greek Adaptations (including translation), Roman Adaptations (including translation), and work that calls for Progress and Social Change.

I do freelance play development starting with an 1-hour script consultation. I have flexible rates and am a member of LMDA.

EPIPHANIES FESTIVAL 2022

New Works Dramaturg

In 2022, we received over 300 scripts. As the Festival Dramaturg, I am currently organizing scripts, managing readers, and reading through scripts.

In Spring 2022, 8 semifinalists will be selected along with a shortlist. I will work with the 8 semifinalists on their scripts, before we bring 4 to be staged as reading in the Festival, along with a full production of last year's winner Cardboard Castle Hung On Walls.

Staged Reading Directed by Steven Pounders

September 2021

I read an earlier draft of the script, met one on one with the writer to discuss the play narratively and dramaturgically, and provided  developmental talkback at staged reading.

EPIPHANIES FESTIVAL 2021

New Works Dramaturg

I was the festival dramaturg for Epiphanies New Works Festival 2021. I worked one on one with the artistic team, directors, and playwrights.

I  helped oversee the Baylor Theatre Dramaturgy class creating 3 audience guides for the festival finalists.

I created two audience guides for Jesus and Valium, the full production, and Cardboard Castles Hung On Walls, the festival winner.
